Malton Deaths Could Have Been Avoided
The tragic deaths in Malton are a heart-wrenching reminder of the importance of fire safety measures. My thoughts are with the families affected by this disaster.
Unfortunately, a landlord who did not start the fire is now facing immense distress. It is a profound shame that someone who is not responsible for the fire now bears the burden of the deaths of two young individuals. This landlord is set to be prosecuted in May for failing to conduct a fire risk assessment for the flats at Tannery Flats on Buckrose Court. You can read the full story here .
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 , it is a legal requirement to conduct a fire risk assessment if you employ more than five people. This obligation also extends to landlords and those designated as a responsible person for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs).
Important Notice: Failing to conduct a fire risk assessment can lead to prosecution by the Fire Service. Don't let this happen to you.
